Fireworks at Kaohsiung’s Wannian Folklore Festival 2012
Originating from local religious temples’ celebrations, Kaohsiung’s Wannian Folklore Festival is now a festival aimed at preserving and promoting the historical and cultural heritage of the area’s temples. There are folk events, entertainment and religious parades throughout the area for a week and the highlight is the burning of a paper lion 燒火獅. I covered the event with writer Steven Crook and will post more pictures and information after the photos have been published.
