Glass Art 玻璃藝術
This series of modern dancer, traditional erhu 二胡 musician and large installation glass art pieces was shot for the Hsinchu Glass Festival where Billy was going to perform with other glass artists. Sadly, the government couldn’t give Billy enough funding to cover the costs of the production which would involve shipping the huge glass art pieces pictured here from Tainan to Taipei.
The glass created many technical photographic difficulties which I was planning to overcome on the second days shooting (with circus performers and other glass instrument musicians!) but the budget was cancelled before we had a chance to shoot. For this shot I was able to get a flash head inside the glass ball. The ball opens at the top.
This is the only glass erhu ( 二胡) in existence in the world! We were going for a Yin Yang feel to this shot.
The huge and beautiful glass background for this shot was to be shipped to Taipei. I didn’t realize I was shooting such a large glass art and didn’t have nearly enough background material so the background is showing through the glass.
A quick shot of the Erhu musician and his friend.
We were continuing with the Yin Yang theme here.
We took a quick shot with the woman who runs the Tainan Glass Art Factory.
Wow, I love this stuff! Too bad the second day”s shoot was cancelled. I would have liked to see the results.
Hi Norman, nice to hear from you.
Brilliant – more art than just photography … nice one !
Thanks, Fabian!
