It never ceases to amaze me that editors and art directors always choose the photos that I least expect for their publications; Mabuhay Magazine did not disappoint. They selected some of my photos to illustrate Matthew Jones’ Kenting article for the Travel and Lifestyle June 2012 issue, but chose several unlikely photos of night markets and the Mambo Restaurant. I submitted all the photos pictured here (every one of these places was mentioned in the article) which were not published. What I take from this is — give editors a wide range of subject matter to increase your chances of flattering editors’ strange sensibilities.

This was the first in-flight magazine that I was flying on when my photos were published in the issue. We were flying to Canada and I proudly showed my kids. They were justifiably unimpressed.
