Super Moon

Super moon rises over Yushan mountain range and Chishan river valley, Namaxia District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan

I took this photograph of the super moon while driving to Tainan on May 6th. Incidentally,  it is the valley view from Shuang Lian Qu (雙連屈) written about in my last post. A ‘supermoon’ or, for the nerds, perigee-syzgy of the Earth-Moon-Sun system, is when the full moon is  closest to the earth on its elliptical orbit. Using a long lens, shooting right at moonrise and having a near object next to the moon in the photo would have accentuated the size of the moon, but I had gone to Tainan’s Caoshan moonworld earlier and it was cloudy. For this picture I wanted to use the extra-bright moon.
