Minnekhada Park, Port Coquitlam, B.C.
I grew up next door to Minnekhada Regional Park (although it wasn’t a regional park then – we called it Minnekhada Farm) and have hiked it’s trails since it opened to hikers. The park’s surrounds are the same as my childhood home and I took it for granted in my youth on Cedar Drive. Now that I’ve traveled the world, I no longer take it for granted.
The 200 hectare park is now popular with day-hikers and bird watchers but was once Lieutenant Governor Eric Hamber’s hunting retreat.
We saw three bears, two cubs and a mother.
